50% rayon / 50% polyester blend of these versatile sponges is very soft, limiting trauma to the patient. They are highly absorbent, cost-effective, and virtually lint-free, making them ideal for applying ointments, prepping, wiping needles, cleaning slides and many more applications. They're soft enough and soak up liquid well, which is what I needed for gentle cleanup. But they don't hold up as long as I'd like—after a few heavy uses they start to shed a bit and lose their shape. Fine for the price, just not amazing.
